Williams Grove Speedway Awaits World of Outlaws

Three of the most intense night of racing on the World of Outlaws schedule are on-tap as the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts takes the green flag on Thursday, July 19 at the famed Williams Grove Speedway.

The three night event will wrap up on Saturday, July 21 with a $20,000-to win A-Feature event that will pit the World of Outlaws against the always tough Pennsylvania Posse.

Last season Daryn Pittman dominated the finale of the event, leading all 30 laps en route to his first career victory at the famed half-mile. He finished second in both of the preliminary features to earn the most points, to lock himself into the Crane Cams Dash on the final night. He won the dash to earn the pole position in the A-Feature and went on to lead all 30 laps in very convincing form. This season, the native of Owasso, Oklahoma has three A-Feature wins to his credit.

Donny Schatz finished second in the finale of the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts last season. The reigning World of Outlaws champion won both World of Outlaws races in May at Williams Grove, and is fresh off his first career Kings Royal triumph on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway. The native of Fargo, North Dakota is the current leader in the championship standings as he chases his second straight title. Entering the second East Coast swing of the season, he leads the series with 10 A-Feature wins.

Craig Dollansky finished in the Top-Three on all nights last season in the Summer Nationals. He won the second night of the event in 2006, leading all 25 laps of the preliminary feature. He finished third in the opener, and also was third in the finale. He enters the race this season in the seventh spot in the championship points on the strength of 28 Top-10 finishes, along with a win at Lake Ozark Speedway in Missouri.

Terry McCarl won for the first time in his career at Williams Grove last July, as he victorious in the opener of the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts. In the finale, he finished eighth. The native of Altoona, Iowa finished in the Top-three both nights at Eldora Speedway last weekend during the Kings Royal weekend and also won in June at Knoxville Raceway.

Steve Kinser has won a total of 37 times in his career at Williams Grove Speedway, including preliminary feature. He finished second at the track in May and enters this week's trio of events at the half-mile with eight A-Feature wins on the season. He has won three times on half-mile tracks this season, including at Eldora Speedway last Friday in the Knight Before the Kings Royals.

Joey Saldana finished fifth in the finale of the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts last season. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana was eighth in the opener of the three-day event. This season at the storied track he finished second on May 17. The 1996 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has nine wins and is second in championship points.

Danny Lasoski won the Summer Nationals in 2004. He led the first 20 laps of the event on May 18, before finishing third. He also was in the Top-10 in the series first event of the season at Williams Grove. The 2001 World of Outlaws champion has three A-Feature wins on the season and is third in championship points.

Jason Meyers has two Top-10 finishes at Williams Grove this season. He was fourth on May 18 and the night before came home seventh. The native of Clovis, California has three A-Feature wins on the season and is fourth in the championship points. He finished second last weekend in the Kings Royal.

Paul McMahan finished fourth in the World of Outlaws last visit to the half-mile in May. He has two A-Feature wins on the season, including at Eldora Speedway which is owned by his car owner Tony Stewart. McMahan also won at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin. He has a preliminary feature win in World of Outlaws competition at Williams Grove and also won an A-Feature with the World of Outlaws Gumout Series in 2000.

Jason Solwold enters the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts ninth in the World of Outlaws standings. Prior to action on July 17, he had 25 Top-10 finishes, including a fourth-place performance in the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway on July 14.

Jac Haudenschild finished 10th last season on the final night of the Summer Nationals. He also finished fourth on the second night of the event. He has two A-Feature wins on the season, including in the Brad Doty Classic last week at Limaland Motorsports Park in Ohio, as well as at Red River Valley Speedway in North Dakota.

Tim Shaffer begins the second East Coast swing of the season just outside the Top-10 in series points. The native of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania and 1999 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has 18 Top-10 finishes, with 11 of those being in the Top-Five.

Jason Sides finished seventh in the World of Outlaws first visit of the season to Williams Grove Speedway in May. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has 13 Top-10 finishes on the season, with five of those being in the Top-Five.

Kerry Madsen competed in his first two events at Williams Grove earlier this season. The current leader in the battle for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award won earlier this season on a half-mile at Volusia Speedway Park on the second night of the season.

Randy Hannagan finished in the Top-15 last season in the finale of the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts. The 1995 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has five Top-10 finishes this season.

Justin Henderson visited Williams Grove for the first time in his career last season, and gained a lot of respect when he raced wheel-to-wheel with Fred Rahmer during the National Open in September. This season the native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota has nine Top-10 finishes and led laps at the historic Manzanita Speedway in Arizona earlier in the year.

Chad Kemenah, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year competed in all three nights of the Summer Nationals last season. The native of Findlay, Ohio will be behind the wheel of the Hard 8 Racing No. 8K for the event. He earned his first Top-10 finish with the team as he came home ninth in the Kings Royal last weekend.

Chad Hillier, another of the contenders for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award, competed at Williams Grove for the first time in his career in May. The native of Burlington, Washington is currently second in rookie points.

Jeremy Campbell competed in the Cleveland Brothers Summer Nationals Presented by Advance Auto Parts last year. The second-year driver currently has three Top-10 finishes on the season.

Brooke Tatnell finished fourth in the finale of the event last season. He was third and sixth in the two preliminary features. The native of San Souci, NSW, Australia has 13 Top-10 finishes on the season.

Also in action at Williams Grove Speedway will be: Tony Bruce Jr. of Kansas, another of the rookie contenders, also with fellow first-year driver Sam Hafertepe Jr. of Texas, second-year driver Jason Martin of Kansas, veteran Dion Hindi of New Mexico, who set fast time last season at Williams Grove, and Indiana native Brian Carlson.

Rookie Zach Chappell of Oklahoma will miss the event, as he continues to recover from a left knee injury sustained earlier this month.

On Thursday, July 19 at Williams Grove Speedway pit gates will open at 4 p.m., with grandstand gates opening for advanced ticket holders at 5:15 p.m., with the ticket gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and hot laps set for 7:15 p.m.
