Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Preview: Lucas Oil Speedway

Wheatland, MO-- September 12, 2008--The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will wrap up the weekend swing through the Heartland with an inaugural event at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on Sunday, September 14. The state of-the-art 3/8-mile is one of the most renowned dirt tracks in the entire country.

The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has been competing in Missouri since the inaugural 1978 season. A total of the 17 full-time drivers with the series have won a race in the Show-Me state at some point during their career. The series has competed twice this season in the state, with Jason Meyers and Donny Schatz picking up wins.

Schatz, the two-time defending World of Outlaws champion won the series most recent event in the state of Missouri, at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway back in June. He has finished sixth or better in eight consecutive events in the state. The North Dakota native leads the World of Outlaws with 14 A-Feature wins, including in the series most recent race at Clay County Fair Speedway in Iowa on Wednesday night. He leads the series with 49 Top-10 finishes in 51 A-Feature events as he chases his third consecutive title.

Jason Meyers won earlier this season in Missouri at I-55 Raceway in a thriller over Craig Dollansky. He has seven consecutive Top-10 finishes in the state and has three wins in his career in Missouri. The California native has eight A-Feature wins this season along with a preliminary feature win last weekend at the Gold Cup Race of Champions in his home state. Meyers, who is second in points, leads the World of Outlaws with 40 Top-Five finishes. He also tops the charts in laps led and fast time honors in qualifying.

Craig Dollansky has podium finishes in both of his starts in Missouri this season, and has three career A-Feature wins in the state. The former World of Outlaws Gumout Series champion has won a total of eight times this season it the World of Outlaws, including seven A-Features. Along with Meyers, he is the only driver that has led more than 300 laps of A-Feature competition this season and he is currently third in points.

Joey Saldana has finished on the podium in both of his starts this season at Missouri tracks. He has eight consecutive Top-10 finishes in the state where he has one career win. Driving for Kasey Kahne Racing, he has four A-Feature wins this season including a $25,000 triumph at Skagit Speedway on August 31 during the Gold Rush Tour. He is currently fourth in points on the strength of 37 Top-10 finishes.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion has won nearly 60 times in his career when he visits a track for the first time, as he will be doing this weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway. Dating back to 1978, he has won 28 times in the state of Missouri. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has six A-Feature wins this season and has 549 in his career with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series.

Jac Haudenschild has a couple of Top-10 finishes this season in the state of Missouri. In his career, he has four wins in the Show-Me state. He has won twice this season with the World of Outlaws, including a $50,000 triumph last weekend in the 55th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in California. The native of Wooster, Ohio is sixth in points on the strength of 38 Top-10 finishes.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished in the Top-10 earlier this season at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway. He has six career Top-10 finishes in Missouri. Entering action this weekend, the native of St. Mary's, NSW, Australia is seventh in points on the strength of 32 Top-10 finishes.

Chad Kemenah, who was the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, finished eighth at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway earlier this season. The four time All Star Circuit of Champions title winner has six career Top-10 finishes in the state of Missouri. He is currently eighth in points on the strength of 30 Top-10 finishes, just 18 markers out of the seventh spot.

Terry McCarl, who is ninth in points, has won four times in his career in Missouri. The six-time Knoxville Raceway and Huset's Speedway track champion has 21 Top-10 finishes this season as he closes in on his first win of the season.

Daryn Pittman has one win in his career in Missouri, with that coming at I-55 Raceway in 2002. The native of Owasso, Oklahoma has won four times this season including the $50,000 Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway in Ohio. He is solidly in the Top-10 in points on the strength of 25 Top-10 finishes.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. is one of just two World of Outlaws drivers that has competed at Lucas Oil Speedway in the past. He finished ninth at the track in 2006. He has one career win in the state of Missouri and six Top-10 finishes. The sophomore driver from Sunnyvale, Texas has 14 Top-10 finishes this season as he chases his first World of Outlaws win.

Kraig Kinser, who won his first A-Feature event of the season on Labor Day at Grays Harbor Raceway in Washington, has always run strong in the Missouri. He has a win in the state to go along with 10 Top-10 finishes. In his first season driving for Tony Stewart Racing, he has 14 Top-10 finishes.

Jason Sides competed at Lucas Oil Speedway earlier this season, finishing fourth against a very strong field of cars. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has three career wins in Missouri. He has 14 Top-10 finishes this season as he closes in on his first win of the campaign.

Tony Bruce Jr. who is in his second full season with the World of Outlaws has eight career Top-10 finishes in Missouri. He won his first career World of Outlaws event earlier this season in an inaugural event at 34 Raceway in Iowa.

Chad Hillier who is also in his sophomore season with the World of Outlaws, has made a handful of starts in the Show-Me state over the last two seasons. The native of Burlington, Washington has five Top-10 finishes this season.

Lucas Wolfe, who is in his first season on the road full-time with the World of Outlaws competed for the first time in his career in Missouri back in April at I-55 Raceway. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania has five Top-10 finishes this season.

Paul McMahan has won a couple of times in Missouri during his career. The California native who now calls Nashville, Tennessee home recently picked up his 14th Top-10 finish of the season at Clay County Fair Speedway in Iowa.

What to look for at Lucas Oil Speedway

*Jason Sides and Sam Hafertepe Jr. are the only World of Outlaws drivers that have competed at the track. Sides finished fourth earlier this season at the 3/8-mile, while Hafertepe finished ninth back in 2006.

*The event race will be the third inaugural event this season for the World of Outlaws. It will also mark the third and final race of the season in the state of Missouri for the series.

*Steve Kinser has won 28 times in his career in the state of Missouri and also has an amazing track record when he visits speedways for the first time, having won nearly 60 inaugural events in his career.

*With less than 20 race dates remaining on the 2008 calendar, Donny Schatz leads Jason Meyers by 107 points in the series championship standings as he chases his third consecutive series title. Schatz has finished in the Top-10 in all but two A-Feature events this season, while Meyers leads the series with 40 Top-Five performances. He won earlier this season at Sedalia's State Fair Speedway in Missouri, while Meyers was victorious at I-55 Raceway in Pevely.

*Kraig Kinser has been one of the most consistent drivers over the last couple of weeks, picking up a win at Grays Harbor Raceway in Washington on Labor Day and leading a number of laps on Wednesday night at Clay County Fair Speedway before finishing second. He has five straight Top-10 finishes entering competition this weekend.

*The event at Lucas Oil Speedway will be the 18th of the season on a 3/8-mile for the World of Outlaws. There has been nine different winners on tracks that size, with Donny Schatz leading the list with six wins.

*There has been nine new track records established in time trials this season at World of Outlaws events, including at Clay County Fair Speedway on Wednesday night. A new track record is expected at Lucas Oil Speedway on Sunday, September 14.
