'TK' Runs Seventh in Alltel DIRTcar Nationals

BARBERVILLE, FL (February 9) -- Tim Kaeding moved into sixth place in the World of Outlaws point standings Saturday with a seventh-place finish on the second night of the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

"TK" drove Tom Rolfe Racing's #10 J.F. McCray Plastering Maxim to victory in the Crane Cams Dash for the privilege of starting the 30-lap main event on the pole. He led the first seven laps, but lost his momentum when the caution flag flew during lap eight. Fellow Californian Jason Meyers passed him for the lead deep in the second corner when the race resumed and two-time defending World of Outlaws champion Donny Schatz closed in on the leaders and passed him two laps later. Kaeding eventually finished in seventh place behind Meyers, Schatz, Joey Saldana, Jeff Shepard, opening-night winner Craig Dollansky and Jac Haudenschild.

Kaeding's 131.829-MPH lap around Volusia's half-mile oval was the ninth-fastest in the 45-car field and only .151 seconds off fast-qualifier Cody Darrah's pace. He ran second, just 1.216 seconds behind Chad Layton, in the First Heat Race.

Kaeding's second straight top-10 finish pushed him to within 10 points of Pennsylvania Posse front-runner Lance Dewease and 37 behind leader Dollansky in the World of Outlaws point standings.
