Outlaws Will Not Reschedule Terre Haute Events

TERRE HAUTE, IN (July 14) -- World of Outlaws Sprint Series and Terre Haute Action Track officials have agreed not to reschedule this year's rained out events at the legendary half-mile oval.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Series' "Mean 15" was scheduled to race at the Terre Haute Action Track May 14th and July 3rd, but rain made the surface unsafe each time. Fans needing refunds for those races can call Track Enterprises, Inc., at 217-764-3200.

"We're looking to having the World of Outlaws back next year," Promoter Bob Sargent said.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Series ran 18 events at the Terre Haute Action Track between 1980 and 2003. Danny Lasoski, whose car owner Tony Stewart is from Indiana, has won five World of Outlaws Sprint Series "A" Features at Terre Haute, including the last four. Steve Kinser, who lives in Bloomington, IN, is a four-time winner at the Vigo County Fair facility.

The Terre Haute Action Track is one of America's premier short tracks, featuring World of Outlaws Sprint Series, the USAC and UMP Series, showcasing the best in regional and national sprint cars, super stocks, late models, modifieds, and flat-track motorcycles. The Terre Haute Action Track, which opened in 1952, has a storied tradition featuring some of racing's legendary drivers, including Ken Schrader, Jeff Gordon, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti and Parnelli Jones.
