Shane Stewart Ready for WoO Rookie of the Year Chase
From Rudeen Racing powered by mIn Motorsports, OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (February 9, 2005) -- Coming off a strong Australian campaign, Bixby, Oklahoma's Shane Stewart is set to pursue World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year honors along with the series title in the Rudeen Racing No. 26 powered by mIn Motorsports sprint car as action fires up this weekend at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, FL.
Stewart, coming off eleven feature victories in 2004 including a $20,000 triumph in Skagit Speedway's Dirt Cup Classic, posted a strong third place ranking in Australia's World Series Sprint Car points at the helm of Bill Mann's Performance Wholesale Motorsports machine.
In addition to a pair of WSS feature wins, Stewart capped off his 23-event Australian journey with a $15,000 triumph in the inaugural Australian Sprintcar Nationals at Speedway City in Adelaide this past Saturday night, February 5. Overall, Stewart posted nine podium finishes and fifteen top-five runs in 23 Australian starts.
Back on American soil, Stewart will tune up for the Friday and Sunday World of Outlaws double at Volusia Speedway Park in Wednesday night's All Star Circuit of Champions event aboard the Wesmar-powered HRP Wings/Schoenfeld Headers Maxim machine.
Stewart takes to the World of Outlaws trail full-time in 2005 aboard the newly formed partnership that includes car owner Kevin Rudeen of Washington-based Rudeen Development and team manager Scott Chilcutt of Oklahoma City's mIn Motorsports Management.
Stewart enjoyed a successful run aboard Chilcutt's mIn Motorsports machine the past two years, earning Southern Iowa Speedweek "Mr. Sprint Car" honors in both 2003 and 2004 as well as last year's Sprint Bandits series championship in the Sander Engineering/B&B Oval Products mount.
Stewart also joined forces with the Rudeen Development team to capture the Dirt Cup crown last June, leading to the Rudeen Racing powered by mIn Motorsports partnership. The newly formed team debuted in the World of Outlaws 2004 season finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, with Stewart posting a pair of strong fourth-place finishes.
Stewart, who collected his first World of Outlaws feature victory at Thunder Valley Speedway in Union Hill, LA, last March, takes to the entire 90-plus nationwide World of Outlaws trail for the first time aboard the Brodix/Banshee Graphics/XYZ Machining No. 26 along with co-crew chiefs Eric Manfrass and Bob Curtis.
