Alltel DIRTcar Nationals Kicks Off 30th Anniversary Season For Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Only a few weeks remain before the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series launches its 2008 30th anniversary tour with the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
Beginning Feb. 8 at Volusia Speedway Park and winding its way back and forth across North America, 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' will compete in 27 states and two Canadian provinces this season, concluding with the Second Annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway. Reserved seat tickets for the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals are available online now at VolusiaSpeedwayPark.com.
After three thrilling nights at Volusia, the winged sprint car superstars return once again to Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Miss. on Feb. 16, for an action-packed night of high-speed racing.
A trek to the West Coast continues with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competing for two nights Feb. 22-23 at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., followed by a guaranteed night of incredible speed and deft passing on March 1 at the famed half-mile Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix.
Marching back to the East on March 14-15, the high banks are waiting at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., where a last corner pass last season determined the victory.
The series kicks off its first Midwest run April 5 at fast and furious I-55 Raceway in Missouri, which is co-owned by NASCAR star Ken Schrader, followed April 11-12 with two nights at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.
Four tracks will welcome the series for the first time, including: Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va., on May 24; Gillette Thunder Speedway in Gillette, Wyo., on Aug. 14; Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, N.D., on Aug. 16; and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., on Sept. 14.
The series also will return this season to Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.; Billings Motorsports Park in Billings, Mt.; Hollywood Hills Speedway just outside of Albuquerque in San Felipe Pueblo, N.M., and Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, Calif.
Dave Blaney's Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, where recently the World of Outlaws had competed early in the season, has moved its event to the fall, creating an exciting weekend of action in Ohio with an event Friday, Sept. 19, at Eldora Speedway followed Saturday, Sept. 20, by a night of side-by-side, high-speed racing at the 3/8-mile Sharon Speedway.
