Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Thursday Night Chili Bowl Report

The 22nd Annual Dodge Chili Bowl Midget Nationals continued on Thursday night in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers Justin Henderson and Shane Stewart taking to the track. Also in action was three-time World of Outlaws champion Sammy Swindell, who is also a three-time Chili Bowl winner.

Stewart and Swindell both raced their way into the 25-lap preliminary feature, which was won by Brad Kuhn of Indiana.

Stewart, the 2005 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year started the night out by finishing third in the first heat race, one spot better than Chili Bowl veteran and NASCAR star J.J. Yeley. Stewart, who hails from Bixby, Oklahoma, would finish sixth in the first A-Qualifier, which put him in the first B-Main where he finished third to earn a spot in the preliminary feature.

Swindell, a native of Germantown, Tennessee, finished fifth in the sixth heat race, which put him in the third A-Qualifier, by virtue of passing points accumulated in the heat race. He finished third in that A-Qualifier, garnering a spot in the 25-lap preliminary feature.

In the preliminary feature, Swindell finished eighth, while Stewart was 21st.

Henderson, making his third consecutive trip to Tulsa, began his night by finishing seventh in the second heat race, which was won by two-time NASCAR champion and World of Outlaws team owner Tony Stewart. The native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota wrapped his night up with a fifth-place finish in the third Last Chance Race.

The 22nd Annual Dodge Chili Bowl continues on Friday night with the final of the three qualifying nights. Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series drivers that will be in action include: Sam Hafertepe Jr., World of Outlaws team owner Kasey Kahne, Terry McCarl and Jason Meyers. Also in action will be World of Outlaws Late Model Series star Josh Richards, driving a team car for Tony Stewart Racing.

The 30th anniversary Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season begins on February 8, 2008 with the 37th Annual Florida DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.
