Reimers Returns To Lead World of Outlaws Sprint Series
Norman, OK -- Feb. 10, 2006 -- A World of Outlaws Sprint Series event requires a dedicated staff of officials to ensure a race night goes off without a hitch.
Returning to the series this season as the World of Outlaws Sprint Series Director is Carlton Reimers, a highly respected official who is beginning his 13th season with the series.
Reimers leads a staff that includes Competition Director Don Grabey and officials Tom Milne, Barrett Wagoner and Jim Farley. Bill and Linda Pembleton will oversee scoring and timing, which is displayed on monitors through the Mobile Media Center as well as to Mean 15 teams who have equipped their laptops with timing and scoring software through the Media Center's WiFi network. Art and Carol Malies are back with Work'n Woody and Johnny Gibson has returned to call the action as the series' Public Address announcer.
"Carlton has a lot of experience with the World of Outlaws," said DIRT MotorSports Vice President of Race Operations Shane Carson. "He knows a lot of the promoters and knows the situations. He's got a great feel for what needs to be done going forward. He realizes that there probably needed to be another person on the road with the series."
Reimers is excited to be back on tour with the World of Outlaws, working with the teams and promoters to help put on a show that will entertain fans at each stop the World of Outlaws make throughout the country. Reimers is the newest addition to DIRT MotorSports and the World of Outlaws. President Tom Deery, Executive VP Operations Ben Geisler and Chief Marketing Officer Rob Butcher joined the organization last month.
"I've come out to a few races this year just to help out a little bit and see how things are going out here," Reimers said. "I've been amazed with the enthusiasm that everybody has. There's a lot of the excitement and new things are happening. Good things are coming on board. Getting Tom Deery, Ben Geisler and Rob Butcher on board is a big plus. I'm excited to be a part of it because I see the World of Outlaws really taking off.
"I see more cooperation out of the race teams as far as helping us do what we need to do as officials. All the officials are very knowledgeable about what they're doing and they're working together real well. It's a new crew out here and normally one would think it would take a while for those guys to come together, but right off the bat everybody is doing their jobs without being told and cooperating. It's just been very positive this year."
DIRT MotorSports Vice President and CFO Brian Carter sees the experience that Reimers brings to the series as a major asset to the World of Outlaws.
"Carlton brings years of on-the-road operating experience and long-standing relationships within short track racing," Carter said. "Additionally, he managed the events during the days of live television coverage, which will be important in executing our long-term strategy for the series."
DIRT MotorSports Executive Vice President of Operations Ben Geisler has observed Reimer's ability first-hand.
"Having been on the road with our team for eight of the first 10 events I have been able to watch Carlton in action and believe that his broad experience, combined with a consistent approach will be a significant asset to the Series," Geisler said. "I have been incredibly impressed with our entire road crew and am pleased to have this final piece in place."
The World of Outlaws Sprint Series is brought to the fans across the country by several sponsors and partners, including series sponsors Hoosier Racing Tire and The Outdoor Channel. Promotional Partners include AMB i.t., Choice Hotels and The University of Northwestern Ohio. Contingency sponsors include DART Machinery, MSD Ignitions, Wrisco Industries and RacinSoles.
