Quaker State to Sponsor World of Outlaws' Heat Races PLANO, TX (March 29) - Quaker State, whose logo is already emblazoned all over "King of the Outlaws" Steve Kinser's #11 Maxim, has agreed to sponsor the Skoal Outlaw Series' heat races in 1996. "The race track is not only an excellent arena to display the quality of our products," John Barr, president and chief operating officer of Quaker State said. "It is also a good testing ground. When our products survive the rigors of race conditions, it certainly is a good indicator of their ability in passenger cars and trucks. "Sponsoring quality events like the World of Outlaws' Heat Races allows us the opportunity to give something back to our consumers, who are loyal race fans." Quaker State's heat race program will be in effect during World of Outlaws single-program and in the preliminaries of multi-program events. Each heat race winner will receive $100. "We're pleased to have Quaker State sponsoring our heat races this year," World of Outlaws President Ted Johnson said. "With all of the television coverage we have for this season, they should be happy with all the exposure they'll get through their sponsorship program." Joey Saldana won the first heat race Quaker State sponsored at Pike County Speedway on March 15th. Kinser and Stevie Smith won the other heat races that night. Smith also won the Third Quaker State Heat Race at Battleground Speedway the next night. The Quaker State Corporation, based in Dallas, TX, is primarily a producer of motor oils and lubricants, both branded and private label, and a marketer of products and services in the automotive aftermarket.
