TMAC Motorsports Picks Up Win in Round 2 of Snap-On Pit Crew Challenge

Alger, Wash.--August 26, 2006 -- Terry McCarl never wants to visit the work area during a World of Outlaws Sprint Series event, but if he has to, he knows that he has one of the best crews in the business.

With a steady stream of on-lookers, his team, TMAC Motorsports Inc. comprised of Steve Fitzpatrick, Russ Hall, and Adam Stull changed two rear tires, two rear shocks, and 2 rear radius rods in just a tick over a minute and a half, to pick up the win in Round 2 of the Snap-on® Pit Crew Challenge on Saturday afternoon at Skagit Speedway.

"It worked out to a pretty good hourly rate," crew chief Steve Fitzpatrick said smiling. "It was good. We all did a really good job. It was great for the fans. It added some variety for them."

The team went out in the second group of competitors and was pit against the Jeremy Campbell Motorsports team. The TMAC Motorsports Inc. crew turned in a time of 91.252 seconds for their work on the rear of the car, to pick up the $600 dollar first-place check.

"I told them whatever they made, they would split it up among themselves," said McCarl. "I'm really proud of them. They focused a lot more this time than they did last time. Now they have to put their heads together to do even better for the engine change in Las Vegas."

The Kasey Kahne Racing team of Willie Kahne, Justin Adams, and Kevin Cardoza finished second with a time of 91.821 seconds, after being assessed a 15 second penalty. For their efforts, they pocketed $300 and padded their lead in the overall standings of the three race series that wraps up in Las Vegas at the end of the season with an engine change.

The Dan Oswalt Racing crew of Justin Henderson, Rod Henderson, and Chris Timmerman finished third with a time of 109.574 seconds. For their efforts they received $120, and remained in second in the overall standings.

McCarl knew the competition would fierce with not only money on the line, but also bragging rights. He just told his crew to do their best and not worry about the ticking clock or the other teams they were competing against.

"All the teams are really good out here, they are all true professionals," McCarl said. "To do it under pressure, I am really proud of them. Steve, Russ, and Adam did a great job. It's one of those things that you really do not want to do, but then when you do it, you have fun and put on a good show for the fans."

The promoter inside McCarl also came out, as he surveyed the large crowd gathered to watch the event as he walked back to the pits with his victorious crew, while signing many autographs and posing for pictures.

"This helps create an event," said McCarl. "The World of Outlaws is a big event, every time we go in somewhere. This is a small thing we can do to create a good show for the fans. They get to see the crews and the drivers in a different light, without a lot of pressure. It's a little more fun."

The Snap-on® Pit Crew Challenge is a three-event tournament for World of Outlaws Sprint Series teams. The first round at Princeton Speedway was won by the Kasey Kahne Racing team. The final stage featuring a motor change will take place at the season finale in Las Vegas.

Snap-on®, which provided impact wrenches for all the teams to use, is rewarding the top three teams at each stage with $600 to the winning team, $200 to the second-place team and $120 to third place. The top three teams with the lowest overall accumulated time also will receive honors and rewards. The champion will pocket $3,000 with second place picking up $1,500 and third place collecting $600.
