Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series Presents Support Series By Kendra Jacobs PLANO, TX (January 17) - The Pennzoil World of Outlaws will proudly present its Support Series April 14th with its inaugural race at Lernerville Speedway. The $5,000-to-win, $500-to-start event will kick off the 2000 season for the newly established sprint car series. The 50-plus race schedule boasts such well known facilities as Williams Grove Speedway, Huset's Speedway, and Tri-City Speedway. Throughout the 2000 season, the Support Series will also compete with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws in nine events televised on TNN. These events include the inaugural races at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Bristol Motor Speedway. "The Support Series is going to be good for those drivers who have the ambition to move up and compete with the World of Outlaws," Support Series Competition Director Rick Ferkel said. The format of each Support Series event will follow that of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series. The 12 fastest qualifiers will be inverted in four heat races. The top five finishers in the first and third heat races will make up the first Channellock Dash race of the night. The second Channellock Dash will be consist of the top five finishers from the second and fourth heat races. The finish of the first dash will line up in the inside 10 rows of the "A" Feature, with the finish of the second dash lining up the outside 10 rows. The first four finishers in the "B" Feature will start 21-24 in the "A" Feature. Following the season finale - October 14th at the Terre Haute Action Track - the top 12 teams in the Support Series will divide a point fund of at least $152,000. The championship team will receive $50,000. To be included in the Support Series point standings, a team must be a Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series member. After becoming a member, the team will receive five membership cards that can be used at both Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series and Support Series events.
