DES MOINES, IA (December 14) - Brooke Tatnell, the 1999 Vivarin Perseverance Award winner with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series, will drive for Parsons Motorsports next season, team owner Lonny Parsons announced Tuesday. Tatnell, from Sydney, Australia, is currently racing in Australia, in the World Sprint Car Series, where he is a multi-year champion. Parsons is eager to start his first full year of Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series racing, and is excited about having Tatnell as his driver. "I've been watching his performance this fall in Australia and I like what I see," Parsons said. Tatnell ranked 12th in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series point standings in 1999. He qualified for 56 of the 69 "A" Features, recording 10 top-10 finishes and one in the top five. He gave series runner-up Danny Lasoski all he could handle in the "A" Feature at Riverside Speedway in Cottage Grove, OR, August 23rd. The duo exchanged the lead three times during the 40-lap race before Tatnell settled for a second-place finish. Brooke finished third in the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year standings. Joining Parsons and Tatnell will be crew chief Troy Renfro and mechanic Bob Baker. Renfro will be rejoining Brooke Tatnell, having worked with him last year with Tatnell's team. Although this will be his first season with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series, Parsons is no stranger to sprint car racing. He has fielded a car at Knoxville Raceway the last few years, and has also competed in the Amoco Knoxville Nationals. Parsons bought the team from former Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series car owner Gil Sonner in November. Sonner finished 11th in the car owner standings with rookie Daryn Pittman as his driver. "I think with the years of experience between us, we will have a successful year with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series," Parsons said. With additional sponsors still negotiating contracts, Parsons Motorsports will have several associate sponsors. These include Casey's General Stores, Inc. (http://www.caseys.com), a convenience store chain based in the Midwest with more than 1,200 locations, the Housby Group (http://www.housby.com) and Kele OEM Solutions of Memphis, TN. "Kele OEM Solutions" has manufacturing locations in Memphis and Minneapolis, MN. "Kele OEM Solutions" specializes in custom electronic circuit board design and assembly for Original Equipment manufactures {www.kele.com}. WoO
