Hart wins Outlaws' Inaugural Mechanics Race

MAGNOLIA, MS (March 25) - Former sprint car racer turned mechanic Rob Hart won the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series inaugural Mechanics Race Monday at Pike County Speedway.

Hart, who raced in Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series events in New York in the early 1990s, helped maintain Sher-Don Racing's #21 Hop & Sac J&J driven by Danny Wood last season. He drove Michael Dupuy's #4M MIN Motorsports Management Eagle to victory over Jamie Coats, Mark Ellis and Troy Dollansky.

Coats, a mechanic on Joey Saldana's #17 Eagle Raceway/HEM Saw Eagle, had driven sprint cars in several driving schools. Ellis, the crew chief on the #83 Beef Packers Eagle driven by Tim Shaffer, had never driven a sprint car before. It was also the first time Dollansky, Craig Dollansky's brother and a crew member on Karavan Racing's #7 Vmac/Polydome Maxim, ever raced a sprinter.
