Martin and Hindi lock into the feature for the 47th Annual Knoxville Nationals!
August 11, 2007 (Knoxville, IA) To say it has been a tough season for Jason "The Hitman" Martin and Neon Dion Hindi would be putting it mildly. Both drivers chose to be part of the World of Outlaws tour this season at a time when a record 26 teams are traveling the country full time. There have been bright spots in the season such as when Martin the driver of the #36 Nos Energy Drink/Fatheadz.com Eyewear finished 4th at Paducah, 10th at Williams Grove and set quick time at Sharon Speedway and Hindi who pilots the #11D RealTruck.com Automotive Accessories/Stage 8 Locking Fasteners with strong runs at Riverside Speedway and Eagle Raceway but nothing compares to be locked into the feature of the Knoxville Nationals.
Both drivers were dark horses coming into the Nationals. Fact is when people talked about who would make the "A" main their names were not even mentioned. That is fine with both of them, in fact they welcome it.
"I am still letting this sink in." said Hindi. "We took time away from the road and stayed at Knoxville to get prepared for this! Kistler got our motor done and it arrived Tuesday of this week and it is a hitter. I don't mind that nobody thought we could do this it just gives me more motivation. The crew busted their butts Thursday night changing some things and we were fast in the "B" and even faster in the "A". You never know as they say you gotta be in it to win it."
To top things off for Martin his wife Amber is pregnant with the couples 2nd child. To bring home a solid finish in tonight's feature can have very positive implications for the rest of this season and 2008 for the 24 year old driver from Liberal, KS.
"Yeah this is a really big deal to me." Said Martin. "It has been a very tough year and sometimes that can shake your confidence. When your used to winning year in and year out and then you come in and go against the best in the business night after night and your just hoping to make the "A" it gets tough. It was great to go out and do this on NOS Energy Drink night here at Knoxville and give them extra. I am excited that we are having another child and this just adds to it. We will go out there tonight and give it all that we have and get outta here with a top ten."
This is what makes the Nationals the Nationals, drivers can come out of nowhere and do the unexpected. Just ask Jason Martin and Dion Hindi.
