(Casa Grande, AZ) Steve Francis, driver of the Mopar and Valvoline sponsored Moring Motorsports Freeport Recycling Centers Rocket Dodge, started the 2005 dirt late model season this past Saturday at Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, AZ for the Early Thaw championship, which hosts six dirt late model events in eight days. Francis is the defending champion of the Early Thaw series.

The Kentucky Colonel began the championship series by scoring a win in the first heat race and taking the checkered flag in 2nd place on January 15. The three time Renegade DirtCar Series champion followed up his second place finish on January 16 with a 5th place finish and a win in the fifth heat race.

Francis is fresh off a tour in Australia where Steve led Team USA in the Super Sedan series and rallied for over a dozen heat race wins. This was Francis' third time as a member of Team USA in Australia.
