Motorsport.com -- Danny "The Dude" Lasoski brought home his first World of Outlaws Championship Saturday night. "It is a total team effort," said Lasoski. "We capitalized on the the mistake of others. That is what makes a championship team." Lasoski was referring to his 17th starting position and the trouble that be-felled Mark Kinser.

The championship was a tight battle during the entire season with a five-way battle for the championship back in early October between M. Kinser, Lasoski, Steve Kinser, Donny Schatz and Craig Dollansky. By the end of October, Lasoski and M. Kinser were trading the top spot. After Friday's preliminary event, Lasoski had 9743 points to M. Kinser's 9709. That did not leave a lot of breathing room for "The Dude".

In the final feature race, Kinser started ahead of Lasoski by 13 positions -- "The Dude" had his work ahead of him. "I knew that starting back there we had to go. We came all this way and I didn't want to blow it as a driver," said Lasoski. "We had to earn it."

Last year, Lasoski finished fourth in the final point standings with ten 'A' Feature victories. In 1999, Lasoski finished second to M. Kinser who dominated the World of Outlaws series that year.
