Sprint Car Stars Lasoski & McCarl Ready for Tulsa Shootout
TULSA, Okla. (December 21, 2005) -- The annual Tulsa Shootout presented by Brodix, held at Tulsa Expo Raceway, has long been a breeding ground for the future stars of auto racing. While this year's version of the Tulsa Shootout has the typical abundance of upcoming young talent, it also features some established veterans of the Sprint Car world.
World of Outlaws Sprint Car aces Danny Lasoski and Terry McCarl are among the record 120 entries for the 600-cc Multis, one of 21 divisions of Karts, Micros and Quads that will be competing in the 21st Annual Tulsa Shootout at Tulsa Expo Raceway on December 30 and 31.
A former World of Outlaws champion, Lasoski was among the early entries aboard Jerry Russell's No. 20 Eagle Chassis house car. Soon after, an entry was filed for McCarl as well in a competing chassis brand.
"I know these Micro regulars will probably whip my tail out there," six-time Knoxville Raceway champion McCarl stated. "But all I care about is beating Lasoski; if I finish 19th and I'm ahead of him, then that's good enough."
Lasoski and McCarl will face plenty of stout competition in the 600-cc Multis, including defending race winner Stan Yockey of Fresno, CA, and 2004 winner Rodney Stealy of Lakeville, IN. Other Micro classes include "A" Class, Non-Wing, Restricted "A" Class and Junior Sprints.
Kevin Swindell will be in action as well, but in the Go Karting ranks, where he is entered in a handful of the dozen Kart classes.
South Dakota Sprint Car racer Gregg Bakker will try to regain his winning form in the Quads after being shut out of Shootout victory lane in '05 for the first time since 1993. Bakker will compete in both of legs of Pro Quad competition.
Thus far, a total of 829 entries from 34 different states have already registered for the 21st Annual Tulsa Shootout presented by Brodix, with a couple hundred more expected by race time.
Practice for the Tulsa Shootout takes place on Thursday, December 29, with heat races on Friday, December 30. Semi-features will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, with "A" Mains at 6:00 p.m. that evening.
Pit passes are $20 on both Thursday and Friday, with Saturday's pit passes just $25. The grandstands open for Saturday's main events at 5:00 p.m., with admission $15 for Adults and only $5 for children.
