World of Outlaws and Knoxville Raceway Carry Tradition Into 2007

KNOXVILLE, IA -- Sept. 8, 2006 -- The World of Outlaws will hold events in April and June of 2007 at Knoxville Raceway, marking the 30th consecutive year the series has raced at the historic home to sprint car racing.

"Knoxville Raceway and the World of Outlaws have a storied history together," said Race Director Ralph Capitani. "I'm pleased we will be able to write another couple of chapters in 2007.

"During the past month, we re-evaluated the position we took during the Knoxville Nationals regarding our plans for next year. With the progress the World of Outlaws have made combined with their willingness and vision to be leaders who have the best interest of sprint car racing at heart we feel it's important to welcome them back."

In addition to the events next year, the World of Outlaws will race next month on Oct. 7 at Knoxville in an event that was postponed in the spring by rain.

"We are excited to return in 2007 for the 30th year in a row because Knoxville is a special place," said DIRT MotorSports President and CEO Tom Deery. "The support from the city and the intense atmosphere of an event there has us excited to carry on the tradition."

With 72 dates for 2007 previously announced in August during the Knoxville Nationals, the World of Outlaws are adding events on April 28 and June 16 at Knoxville to bring the schedule to 74 race nights. The complete schedule will be announced in December.
