Jason Sides was honored with the 2003 World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award at the series awards banquet at the Monte Carlo Resort Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 2, 2003.
Sides piloted the Wayne and DeLynda Rhodes entry to a sixth place standing in the 2003 World of Outlaws series point chase.
"I've had a really good year," said Sides in accepting the award. "We've come close to winning a few races, but we didn't quite get there. We couldn't be out here with the World of Outlaws if it wasn't for our car owners, Wayne and DeLynda Rhodes. I'd also like to thank Aramark Uniforms, Ozark Motor Lines, Hoosier, Maxim and everybody else who has helped us."
Sides earned the award with a performance through the 2003 season that included 33 top-10 finishes, including 14 in the top five. Sides also started on the pole position three times during his rookie season with the World of Outlaws.
"I want to thank our car owners, Wayne and DeLynda Rhodes," said Sides. "Without them, we couldn't do this."
Sides' rookie season with the World of Outlaws would not have been possible without sponsorship from ARAMARK, Street Rod Productions, Ozark Motor Lines and The Hunting Catalog. Additional product support came from VRP Shocks, Gaerte Engines, Maxim Chassis, Hoosier Tires, and Weld Racing Wheels.
The team will compete with the World of Outlaws in 2004, including traveling to Australia in January.
