TIFFIN, OH (April 25)-The World of Outlaws Gumout Racing Series has altered its format for the 2000 season. The new format follows that of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series but with minor modifications. Each Gumout Series event contains both the Weld Racing Dash as well as the Weld Race Components Dash. Both of the five lap dashes now feature six cars competing for position.

The winner of Heat 1 starts on the pole of the Weld Racing Dash, with the winner of Heat 3 starting on the outside of the first row. The second place finishers of Heats 1 and 3 make up the second row of the Weld Racing Dash. The fastest qualifier of Heat 1 that does not finish in the first or second position of his or her heat, will start 5th in the Weld Racing Dash. The fastest qualifier in Heat 3 that does not finish in the top 2 of his or her heat will start on the outside of row 3. The Weld Race Components Dash will be lined up accordingly from Heats 2 and 4.

The finish of the Weld Racing Dash comprises the inside of rows 1 through 6 in the Gumout Feature Event. The outside of rows 1 through 6 is composed of the finishing order of the Weld Race Components Dash.

Pennzoil World of Outlaws members will not be penalized for competing with the Gumout Racing Series. At this point, no member of the Gumout Racing Series will be penalized for competing in a non-Gumout Racing Series event. The error in points following the Gumout Racing Series event at Lernerville Speedway has been corrected.

Craig Dollansky is the current Gumout Racing Series point leader due to his big win at Lernerville Speedway on April 14th. Following a three-week hiatus, the Gumout Racing Series returns to action at the famed Williams Grove Speedway on Friday May 5th.
