"World of Outlaws" to Invade Grays Harbor Raceway.
The Boundless Motorsports "World of Outlaws Sprint Series' 11th Annual Wild Wild Northwest Tour" is heading to their only State of Washington appearance in 2004, and that two day event will take to the track at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, WA on August 27th & 28th. With nearly $100,000 on line and winner's checks paying $5,000 and $12,000 on Friday and Saturday night, the competition will be fierce.
Providing fans with the greatest sprint car racing in the world, the "World of Outlaws' Mean Sixteen" will take to the new three-eights mile oval at Grays Harbor Raceway with their "fire breathing, mud slinging machines" for two nights of wheel to wheel fast paced action. Brownfield Promotions, Inc is proud to once again bring sprint car racing's premier drivers and teams to Elma for another "Big E" weekend. Exposing race fans around the world to the finest dirt track racing facility in the Northwest, both days of the event will be telecast by the Outdoor Channel.
Returning in 2004 to go for another double-feature sweep will be Jason Meyers of Clovis, CA, winner of both nights of racing at the track last year. One big difference in 2004 is that track size has been increased from a three-tenths to a three-eights mile oval and sweeping corners and high banking have been added. It is a new venue to all of the visiting World of Outlaws drivers.
Along with Meyers, look for all three Kinsers, Steve "The King" Kinser, his son Kraig from Bloomington, IN and cousin Mark of Oolitic, IN, to be strong contenders for a win. Steve Kinser is coming off a double win, he took both Friday and Saturday night wins at Billings Motorsports Park Speedway in Billings, MT last weekend. On August 17th Craig Dollansky out of Elk River, MN opened the Wild Wild Northwest Tour with a win at Rocky Mountain National Speedway in Denver, CO.
Not to be counted out as the one to beat is Danny "The Dude" Lasoski. Lasoski not only ran second to Kinser both nights at Billings, he came into the Northwest swing hot off of winning the prestigious 44th Annual Knoxville Nationals and pocketing the $125,000 first prize money.
Also included in the traveling group are Brian Paulus of Mechanicsburg, PA, Joey Saldana, racing out of Brownsburg, IN, Owasso, OK's Daryn Pittman, Donny Schatz of Fargo, ND and "The First Lady" of racing, Erin Crocker of Buffalo, NY who is in contention for "Rookie of the Year" honors.
Danny Wood from Norman, OK will be piloting the #35 Wright One Construction car of the injured Paul McMahan out of Nashville, TN and Jason Sides of Bartlett, TN is making his first visit to the Northwest.
Tim Shaffer of Aliquippa, PA, who took the win at Grays Harbor Raceway in 2002, returns for another try and Shane Stewart of Bixby, OK will take to the track in the Rudeen Racing sprint based out of Monroe, WA.
Joining the World of Outlaws on the Grays Harbor track will be some of the best drivers the Northwest has to offer. Among those expected to take to the Elma oval are Washington drivers Rick Fauver and Jayme Barnes of Everett, Sedro Woolley driver Chad Hillier, Barry Martinez of Lynwood, Canadians Aaron Fell and Travis Rutz, Oregon drivers Dale Smith of Cottage Grove, Billy Nutter of Central Point and Eugene's Roger Crockett.
Opening the "Big E" weekend and warming up the crowds for the "World of Outlaws" will be a Thursday, August 26th, program featuring the Northwest's best 360 Sprint Car drivers the "Northern Sprint Tour".
