NASHVILLE, TN (November 1) -- Acclaimed sports announcer Eli Gold, currently TNN's play-by-play voice for live NASCAR and Arena Football telecasts, will serve as the announcer for TNN's coverage of the Pennzoil World of Outlaws sprint car racing series in 2001, Brian Hughes, Senior Vice President, Sports and Outdoors, TNN, announced Wednesday. Gold, who joined TNN: The National Network in 1996 as the play-by- play announcer on NASCAR telecasts, will join Brad Doty in the announcing booth for TNN's World of Outlaws telecasts in 2001. Gold will handle the play-by-play duties and Doty will remain the expert analyst. "The addition of Eli Gold to World of Outlaws shows how truly committed TNN is to building our popular motorsports properties," Hughes said. "Eli is a true professional and brings a wealth of announcing experience to our World of Outlaws telecasts." "TNN has been my home since 1996," Gold said. "I am glad to have the opportunity to continue to be part of the organization. I look forward to working with Brad Doty and the rest of the crew on the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series telecasts." TNN Sports will telecast 18 Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series races in 2001, 16 live and two on a tape-delayed basis. WoO
