HARTFORD, MI (October 12) - Interstate Racing Association driver Frank Filskov died Saturday night from injuries suffered in a crash during the Fourth Annual U.S. Dirt Nationals at Hartford Speedway. Filskov was racing through turn one during the final lap of the "B" Feature when his #27F Weiland Racing Stealth collided with the #7 Orkin Maxim driven by Dennis Moore, Jr., which had turned over. Filskov, of Hawthorne Woods, IL, turned 44 October 8th. He is survived by his wife, Debi, and a son, Frank, Jr., 15. He had been a professional racer for more than 20 years, driving sprint cars since 1984 and midgets since 1974. Filskov was a perennial top-five runner with the IRA and was the series' winningest driver in 1992. A wake is scheduled for Tuesday in Elk Grove Village, IL, with a funeral to follow Wednesday. WoO
