SCHATZ, PARKERSTORE TEAM CONTINUE CONSISTENCY, REGAIN WOO POINTS LEAD
HAUBSTADT, IN (April 21) - Donny Schatz and his ParkerStore Racing team have been remarkably consistent during the first 15 nights of action in the 2007 World of Outlaws campaign.
This weekend, the defending WoO champion raced his No. 15 ParkerStore sponsored J&J with Shaver power to a third place finish at Attica Raceway Park on Friday and charged from 18th to sixth on Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.
The results, his 13th and 14th top six finishes in 15 starts, pushed Schatz back into the points lead.
"We know it's a long season and our thoughts right now are on winning races," said Schatz. "This weekend, we came up short on the winning end, but we're getting closer. On Friday, we worked our way into the picture, but couldn't get there. Then Saturday, we just started too far back. The car was working really well and I just kept moving forward."
In both feature events this weekend, Schatz was on the move racing from eighth to third on Friday and then coming from row nine to sixth at Tri-State.
"It was good to have two nights of racing this weekend," continued Schatz. "The past month it seems like we've only got one night in a week to race. We're trying to get all aspects of our program better from qualifying to racing. The more we race the better we feel like we'll be."
The ParkerStore team will return to Fargo this week and prepare their next event on Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA. The race will be the team's first visit to the legendary track where Schatz currently has a two-race win streak.
Last August, he captured the prestigious Knoxville Nationals and then returned to victory lane on October 7. The team will also debut a specially schemed Snap-on Tools No. 15 at the race.
Donny Schatz and the Schatz Motorsports team would like to send their condolences to the Blue Angels air squadron and specifically the family of Lt. Kevin Davis. On Saturday, Davis perished following a crash during a U.S. Navy Blue Angels precision-flying team air show in Beaufort, South Carolina. Last March, Schatz flew with Davis in an F/A-18 Hornet exhibition flight in El Centro, CA.
Be sure to set your DVR, VCR or TIVO machine for Sunday, May 13 at 2 p.m. (et). Schatz will return to the SPEED channel in the first of 20 nationally televised programs this season. SPEED will air the Eldora feature event from April 13 where Schatz put on a tremendous show charging to the front and dueling with Jason Meyers and Jac Haudenschild for the win.
Schatz, who won last year's Knoxville Nationals live on SPEED, will be on the network 11 times in WoO events and another time live in August during the Knoxville Nationals. Schatz and the Outlaws will also make eight appearances on ESPN2 beginning in June.
