PARKERSTORE TEAM SCORES THIRD STRAIGHT RUNNER-UP FINISH AT ELDORA
ROSSBURG, OH (April 14) - Donny Schatz nearly picked up his fourth victory of the 2007 season on Friday night, but instead came home second in the FedEx Outlaw Thunder World of Outlaws "A" feature at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway. Schatz raced the No. 15 ParkerStore J&J with Shaver power from his early fourth place position into a three way battle for the victory during the final four laps of the 30-lap race.
"We came on at the end and almost got the win," said Schatz following the race. "It was important for us to come to Eldora and challenge for the win. It's no secret that this hasn't been my best track, but we've really gained on it the last year or so. We were strong early in the night and in the dash, but the track fooled me just a bit by how slow it got. The team did a great job all night and we'll keep trying to get one spot better."
Jac Haudenschild was in the lead during the late stages of the feature event with Jason Meyers in second. Schatz got a run around Meyers for second and then went after Haudenschild. Lapped traffic forced Haudenschild up in front of Schatz and allowed Meyers to pass them both. Schatz raced by Haudenschild and pulled inside Meyers coming out of turn four racing to the checkered flags, but didn't have enough momentum to take the win.
The second place finish was his third consecutive runner-up at Eldora Speedway for the ParkerStore team following last year's runner-up finishes in July and August. The team was scheduled to return to for a second night of action at the track on Saturday, but rain and cold weather throughout Saturday forced the event to be called.
Friday's race was taped by SPEED and will air on May 13 at 2 p.m. (et)
The ParkerStore team will remain in Ohio this week as they return to action on Friday night at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio. On Saturday night, they will travel to southwest Indiana for a program at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt.
