SCHATZ SCORES DOMINANT WIN IN SPRINTCAR GRAND PRIX

GRANVILLE, NSW (December 26) - Reigning Advanced Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Series champion Donny Schatz continued his Australian dominance at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (TPCR) near Sydney on Tuesday night. While most Americans we're finishing off their Christmas holiday, the Fargo N.D. racer was doing what he does best behind the wheel of the Rush Racing No. 15 Pick 'N Payless sponsored J&J with Shaver-built Chevrolet power.

Schatz opened his TPCR campaign with a victory in the 30-lap Valvoline Australian Sprintcar Grand Prix.

"This is what we came here for," said Schatz, who won eight of nine features at the track two years ago and six more last season. "We struggled a bit on the West Coast in November, so everyone on this Rush Racing team was pushing it the past month. I've got to thank them for their hard work."

Schatz qualified seventh in the field of 54 cars. He raced from fifth to win the the Heat 3 Coca Cola race. After finishing second in the Valvoline Dash event, he started the feature event fourth. Ian Loudoun set the early pace before giving way to 20-time WoO champion Steve Kinser. Schatz then tracked down "the King" and masterfully worked through traffic to take the lead with a strong move out of turn four.

Schatz, who left his home two days before Christmas, continues to feel right at home at Parramatta.

"We worked all night to get the car better," continued Schatz, after winning his 25th sprint race in 2007. "Now, we'll try to keep getting better and better over the next few weeks."

Schatz will return to action on Saturday, December 29, when he competes in the Sprintcar International Track Championship Round 10.
