Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Preview: Dacotah Speedway

Mandan, North Dakota-- August 14, 2008-- For the second race in a row, the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will make their debut at a high-banked 3/8-mile track, with Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, North Dakota the setting this time around.

The event on Saturday, August 16 will mark the third stop of the Gerdau Ameristeel Northern Tour which wraps up on Sunday, August 17 at Nodak Speedway.

Donny Schatz, the two-time defending World of Outlaws champion will be making his debut at Dacotah Speedway. The North Dakota native leads the World of Outlaws with 12 A-Feature wins this season and also is on top of the championship standings as he chases his third consecutive title. He won the opener of the Northern Tour at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks at the end of June and has won 15 times during his career in his home state.

Jason Meyers will be making his debut at Dacotah Speedway on August 16, as he looks to gain ground on Schatz in the championship standings. The native of Clovis, California has won twice in his career in North Dakota and has 12 Top-Five finishes in the state. As he chases his first World of Outlaws title, Meyers has six A-Feature wins and leads the series with 32 Top-Five finishes.

Craig Dollansky, who is third in points, has picked up four wins in his career with the World of Outlaws in North Dakota. The native of Elk River, Minnesota has won seven times this season and has racked up 35 Top-10 finishes in 40 events, as he too chases his first series title.

Joey Saldana has won four times in his career in North Dakota and has nearly 20 Top-10 finishes in the state. The second generation driver who hails from Brownsburg, Indiana has won twice this season, including on a 3/8-mile at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas. He is in the midst of his third full-season behind the wheel for NASCAR star Kasey Kahne's team.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion has won more than 50 times in his career when he visits a track for the first time. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has 16 career wins in North Dakota with the series. He has won five times this season which brings his career total to 548, and he is currently fifth in points.

Jac Haudenschild won for the second time in his career in North Dakota last season. He has over 30 Top-10 finishes in the state dating back to 1986. He is solidly in the sixth spot in points as he closes in on his first win of the season. He finished third on Tuesday night at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota as he continues to close in on his first win of the season.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, has three Top-10 finishes in North Dakota in just a handful of starts dating back to 2006. The Australian native has racked up 25 Top-10 finishes this season as he too closes in on his first win.

Chad Kemenah, the 2006 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, has a couple of Top-10 finishes in North Dakota in his career, including in the opener of the Northern Tour this season at River Cities Speedway. The native of Findlay, Ohio has 23 Top-10 finishes this season.

Daryn Pittman heads into the event at Dacotah Speedway as the most recent series winner on a 3/8-mile track, picking up a win on August 1 at Wilmot Speedway in Wisconsin. He has four wins on the season in World of Outlaws competition. The native of Owasso, Oklahoma won last season at Nodak Speedway in Minot to earn his first career win in North Dakota. He finished fifth earlier this season in the opener of the Gerdau Ameristeel Northern Tour at River Cities Speedway and won at Red River Valley Speedway on Tuesday night.

Terry McCarl has three career victories in the state of North Dakota, including last season with the World of Outlaws at Nodak Speedway. McCarl, who is a six-time Knoxville Raceway and Huset's Speedway Track champion will be making his debut at Dacotah Speedway. He is currently 10th in the championship standings as he closes in on his first win of the season.

Shane Stewart, the 2005 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year, has won twice in his career in North Dakota and has 14 Top-10 finishes in the state. He enters the second half of the season just outside of the Top-10 in the series standings and was victorious earlier this season at Knoxville Raceway. He picked up a Top-10 finish on Tuesday night at Red River Valley Speedway.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. finished fourth in the opener of the Northern Tour this season at River Cities Speedway and backed that up with a sixth-place run at Red River Valley Speedway on Tuesday night. The sophomore driver from Sunnyvale, Texas has 12 Top-10 finishes as he continues to chase his first career series win.

Jason Sides has 10 Top-10 finishes in North Dakota in his career, including at River Cities Speedway in June. The 2003 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has five consecutive Top-10 finishes, including on Tuesday night at Red River Valley.

Kraig Kinser, who was the series top rookie in 2004, also has 10 career Top-10 finishes in the state of North Dakota. The third generation driver is in the midst of his first season behind the wheel for Tony Stewart Racing and has eight Top-10 finishes.

Tony Bruce Jr., who recently won his first World of Outlaws race, has made three starts during his career in North Dakota. Along with his win at 34 Raceway on July 30, the sophomore driver from Liberal, Kansas also earned a Top-Five finish at Knoxville Raceway earlier this season.

Chad Hillier, who also continues his sophomore season with the World of Outlaws, has four career starts in North Dakota. The Washington native has four Top-10 finishes this season and is closing in on the Top-15 in points.

Paul McMahan has 10 Top-10 finishes in his career in North Dakota. The veteran driver has nine Top-10 finishes this season as he chases his first win of the season.

Lucas Wolfe, a rookie from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania will be making just his second start in the state of North Dakota when the World of Outlaws make their inaugural visit to Dacotah Speedway. Prior to getting injured in June, he had earned four Top-10 finishes and recently returned to action in the finale of the Duel in the Dakotas at Red River Valley Speedway.

What to look for at Dacotah Speedway:

* Each of the 18 full-time drivers with the World of Outlaws will be making their debut at Dacotah Speedway.

* The event will be the fourth of six new venues on the 2008 schedule, and the second consecutive inaugural event at a 3/8-mile, and is part of a stretch of five consecutive events on high-banked 3/8-mile tracks.

* Donny Schatz, the lone World of Outlaws driver that hails from North Dakota will also be making his debut at Dacotah Speedway. He leads the series with 12 A-Feature wins, including at River Cities Speedway in his home state back in June. He remains the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in every A-Feature event through August 12.

* Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion has a remarkable record over the years at tracks that he visits for the first time, having won over 50 races in his inaugural visit to tracks. He currently had 548 career A-Feature wins with the World of Outlaws.

* Jason Meyers leads the World of Outlaws with 32 Top-Five finishes this season as he chases his first career title. The native of Clovis, California has six A-Feature wins and is chasing his first victory on a 3/8-mile this season. He leads the series with eight quick time honors in time trials and set a new track record on Tuesday night at Red River Valley Speedway.

* Craig Dollansky, who is currently third in points, has won three times this season on 3/8-mile tracks, including twice at the high-banked Huset's Speedway in South Dakota.

* Jason Sides has 10 Top-10 finishes in his career in North Dakota. He is in the midst of a string that has seen him rack up five consecutive Top-10 finishes, as he continues to close in on the Top-10 in the championship standings.

* Lucas Wolfe will make his second start since returning from a back injury sustained in June. The rookie driver picked up four Top-10 finishes prior to his injury, including a Top-Five performance at Williams Grove Speedway in Pennsylvania, his home track.
