February 2, 2010 -- The Tony Kart America race team had a very successful Championship Karting International Florida Cup event as the operation managed to score two victories and five top five results throughout the weekend. Taking home top honors were Eduardo Martins in the Rotax Masters category while Alex Speed stole the show in KF2.

Californian Alex Speed would do double duty in his Tony Kart as the talented driver would do battle in the Rotax Senior and KF2 divisions. While struggles would take place on Saturday with eighth and fifth place results respectively, Speed would turn up the wick on Sunday scoring a second place finish in Rotax Senior and a demanding win in the KF2 class.

Rotax Mini Max pilot Ashley Rogero was at the front of the field all weekend long and would battle with some of the best up and coming drivers of today. After strong qualifying efforts and heat race results, the Floridian female would come home with a pair of top ten results with a fourth on Saturday and a sixth on Sunday. Continuing to hone her skills, Rogero will continue to compete in the Florida Winter Tour Vortex Rok and Mini Max divisions as well as five classes at the World Karting Association Manufacturers Cup program.

Tony Kart driver Eduardo Martins had the best results of the weekend scoring two pole positions on his way to a second place result and a main event victory in the Rotax Master class. While the Rotax Masters class wasn't great in numbers, the talent was deep and Martins leads the overall points after his consistent results.

While Speed, Rogero and Martins all utilized Ocala Gran Prix prepared Rotax's so did Merlin driver Shawn Sharkey. Competing in a talent filled field of juniors, Sharkey drove his OGP prepared Rotax to two seventh place results.

Tony Kart America and Ocala Gran Prix will now shift their focus to the next rounds of the Florida Winter Tour as they continue to add drivers to the team and rent Rotax motors. Any interested parties are asked to contact Ocala Gran Prix.
