Hillier Duplicates Opening Night at 'The Grove'

MECHANICSBURG, PA (May 18) - World of Outlaws Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year candidate Chad Hillier pulled off an amazing feat in Friday's Cleveland Brothers Spring Classic at Williams Grove Speedway.

Hillier duplicated what he did in Thursday's opening-night program at the legendary half-mile oval, recording the 52nd-fastest qualifying time and passing four cars on his way to a fourth-place finish in the "D" Feature.

"We had the same problem both nights," Hillier said. "No matter what we did with the fuel or the car, we couldn't build enough speed. We just couldn't get the motor to run all the way down the straightaway, so we put in a different one for Saturday. We're not sure what was wrong with it, but something just wasn't right. We beat our heads against a wall for two days; we didn't want to do it for a third. We put in the motor we ran at East Bay (FL) earlier in the year and it ran pretty well. There are only a couple of nights on it, so it's pretty fresh. Hopefully, Saturday will be better. I've never been to Orange County before, so I don't know what to expect. I just hope we have good weather. I'm hoping we can get going again Saturday."

Unfortunately, inclement weather forced World of Outlaws officials to postpone Saturday's race at Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, NY. The event has been rescheduled for September 26th. "The greatest show on dirt" will be back in action Sunday at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ.
