Brian Carlson Medical Update

Brian Carlson was released from Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, Missouri on Monday, and is on his way back home to Linden, Indiana.

He sustained an injury to his left leg after hard contact with the wall in time trials last Saturday at Lake Ozark Speedway. He was transported to the hospital and kept overnight for observation. Complications from medication administered for the leg injury kept him in the hospital on Sunday as well as part of Monday.

Tony Bruce Jr. and his team stepped in to help Brian's wife/crew chief Sarah and sons Seth and AJ return home on Sunday from Missouri with the team's truck and trailer. Sean McClelland who races with the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Sooner Region and is helping out Bruce's team the next couple weeks, drove the truck back to Linden for the Carlson's.

"No matter what has happened in the past in sprint car racing, we can always count on our racers being great friends and family," said Sarah Carlson. "Everyone with the World of Outlaws, our fellow competitors, and crew members are supportive in ways that fans never get to see. A special thanks to "the other 18 car," as our son AJ calls Tony's team. Also thanks to our buddy Dwaine, who has been providing all the team's with steak dinners for the past couple weeks at the track, for all his help."

Carlson will visit his doctor in Indiana on Tuesday to further evaluate his injury, and determine the amount of time that will be needed for recovery.
