PLEASANTON, CA (February 8) -- Brad Furr returned to the United States recently after a successful season in Australia ready to open his second season with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series.

Furr enjoyed a successful 2½-month series "Down Under" with 15 top-five finishes in 19 races, including victories at Avalon Raceway, Premier Speedway and Borderline Raceway.

"We're getting ready to start the season with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series here in a few weeks (February 22nd at Kings Speedway)," Furr said. "We're going to see how we do and we'll probably end up running the series all year long. We had some down times last year, but we ended the year on a high, so I'm hoping we can be competitive and run that much better this year. It's going to be a good time; I'm excited about it. The Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series is the most competitive sprint car racing in the world."

Furr, who finished his rookie season ranking 12th in the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series point standings, won the preliminary feature at the Mopar Parts World Finals at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last November 2nd. The team received the "Best Appearing Car" and "Best Appearing Crew" awards at the 2001 Knoxville Nationals.

"Our plans call for starting with the Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series and running every race until the World of Outlaws Gumout Series starts (April 19th)," team owner Randy Furr said. "We will decide at that point whether to stay with the Pennzoil group or go with the Gumout group."

Sanmina-SCI will continue as Brad Furr Racing’s major sponsor. The #2F sprinter will be an Eagle chassis utilizing Don Ott engines. Mike Harper is the team’s crew chief and Rod Meusling is the crewman.
