Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Preview: Charter Raceway Park

Beaver Dam, WI-- July 31, 2008--The Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will wrap up the Badger Challenge on Saturday, August 2 at Charter Raceway Park in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. The high-banked 1/3-mile has hosted the series for the last six consecutive seasons, with eight different drivers picking up wins during that span. Dating back to the series inaugural visit to the track in 1996, 10 different drivers have visited Victory Lane at Charter Raceway Park.

Daryn Pittman leads the charge to Charter, as he is the winningest driver with the series at the track, with three victories, including last season. The native of Owasso, Oklahoma has eight Top-Five finishes in his career at the high-banked facility. He heads to Wisconsin this weekend fresh off a strong sixth-place effort at 34 Raceway Iowa, where he picked up the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award. He has 17 Top-10 finishes on the season and has won twice, including the $50,000 Kings Royal.

Jac Haudenschild has won twice at Charter Raceway Park in his career, first in 1998 and then again in 2006. He has five career Top-10 finishes at the track. In his first season driving for the Carnahan Motorsports team based out of Minnesota, Haudenschild has racked up 27 Top-10 finishes as he closes in on his first win of the season.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion won at Charter Raceway Park in 2004 and has 11 Top-10 finishes in his career at the track. The native of Bloomington, Indiana has won four times this season and has 18 Top-Five finishes, including 10 in the month of July. He is solidly in the Top-Five in the series championship standings.

Donny Schatz, the two-time defending series champion won at Charter in 2002 and has nine career Top-10 finishes at the high-banked 1/3-mile. He leads the series this season with 12 A-Feature wins and through action on July 30, and is the only driver that has finished in the Top-10 in every event this season.

Craig Dollansky has been victorious at Charter Raceway Park four times in his career, including in 2005 with the World of Outlaws. He has 11 Top-10 finishes at the track in his career. Entering the Badger Challenge this weekend, the Minnesota native has 32 Top-10 finishes on the season and is third in points.

Joey Saldana, who is currently fourth in points, won at Charter Raceway Park in 2003. The second generation driver has eight Top-10 finishes in his career at the track. He set fast time last season in time trials at the high-banked 1/3-mile. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana has won twice this season as he continues his third season behind the wheel for Kasey Kahne Racing.

Jason Meyers, who is currently second in points, has seven Top-10 finishes in his career at Charter. The California native has won six times this season and has racked up 33 Top-10 finishes as he chases his first series title.

Chad Kemenah finished sixth in both events at Charger Raceway Park last season and has three Top-10 finishes at the track in just a handful of starts. The 2006, Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year is seventh in points on the strength of 22 Top-10 finishes, with nine of those being Top-Five performances.

Kerry Madsen, the reigning Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year has three Top-10 finishes at Charter Raceway Park in a limited number of starts, including an eighth-place run last season. The sophomore driver has 23 Top-10 finishes this season and is solidly in the Top-10 in points.

Shane Stewart, the series top rookie in 2005 won at Charter in 2001 with the former World of Outlaws Gumout Series. He has six career Top-10 finishes at the track. He won earlier this season at Knoxville Raceway in Iowa and has 17 Top-10 finishes.

Terry McCarl finished fifth in the first race for the World of Outlaws at Charter Raceway Park last season. The six-time Knoxville Raceway and Huset's Speedway track champion has won twice in his career in the state of Wisconsin.

Sam Hafertepe Jr. made his first visit to Charter last season, during his rookie campaign with the World of Outlaws. The Texas native has 11 Top-10 finishes this season as he chases his first World of Outlaws win.

Kraig Kinser, the son of 20-time series champion Steve Kinser has made a number of starts at Charter Raceway Park in his career, with the most recent coming in 2005, when he picked up a Top-10 finish. The 2004 Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award winner has eight Top-10 finishes this season.

Jason Sides, the series top rookie in 2003, has five Top-10 finishes in his career at the track, including a runner-up finish in 2003 when Daryn Pittman inched him out at the line. The native of Bartlett, Tennessee picked up his second consecutive finish of sixth or better, running fourth at 34 Raceway on Wednesday night.

Tony Bruce Jr. heads to Charter Raceway Park fresh off his first career World of Outlaws A-Feature win at 34 Raceway, in an event which he led wire-to-wire holding off 20-time series champion Steve Kinser. The sophomore driver has made two career starts at Charter.

Chad Hillier picked up his fourth Top-10 finish of the season on Wednesday night, as he finished ninth at 34 Raceway. The sophomore driver also made his first visit to Charter Raceway Park last season.

Paul McMahan has six career Top-10 finishes at the high-banked track including last season. He has nine Top-10 finishes this season, including seven since joining the Parsons Motorsports team. He picked up a Top-10 earlier this season in Wisconsin at Cedar Lake Speedway.

Lucas Wolfe, the leading contender for the Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Award will miss the event as he continues to recover from a back injury sustained last month.
