Top 20 Drivers in 2006 World of Outlaws Sprint Series Standings to Share $850,000 Points Fund

Norman, OK -- Dec. 29, 2005 -- When the green flag drops on the 2006 World of Outlaws Sprint Series season, the competition no doubt will be fierce. Each driver will seek victories night after night, but at the same time they'll be chasing their share of an $850,000 points fund.

For the first time in series' 29-year history, the top 20 drivers in the DIRT MotorSports World of Outlaws Sprint Series championship standings will earn year-end money from the points fund, an increase of two positions from the 2005 record of 18 points-paying positions. The champion will receive $200,000 with the runner-up collecting $100,000.

"The increase to $850,000 is consistent with the objectives of our business plan to expand the depth of our points fund in order to continue to encourage and support local teams and drivers who run on a weekly basis to continue to race," said Paul A. Kruger, DIRT Chairman and CEO. "Though the Outlaws are a recognized national touring series, it's important for DIRT to always recognize the grass-roots racing across the country."

The expansion of the points-paying positions to the largest number in Outlaws history is designed to give more teams a chance reap the rewards of competing with the premier winged sprint car series in the world.

"In 2005 we increased the points-paying positions from 15 to 18 spots," said DIRT MotorSports Vice President and CFO Brian Carter. "For 2006, the top 20 drivers will receive points money at the end of the season. Our goal in expanding the paid positions is to encourage the drivers who might not race in every event to race in a few more events and have the opportunity to participate in the financial rewards at the end of the season."

The 2006 season will launch on Feb. 9 at DIRT MotorSport's Volusia Speedway Park. From there, drivers will embark on a nine-month race to the finale at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where the points payout will be determined and distributed at the annual banquet.
