Strakka Racing set for Fuji Six Hours

Team looks forward to its first race at Fuji Speedway since 2012

In front of an enthusiastic local crowd, Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis recorded an average qualifying time of 1:33.490 to qualify seventh for the 2015 running of the Six Hours of Fuji. Qualifying at the iconic Japanese track concluded a good day that saw Jonny Kane top Free Practice 3, continuing a strong recovery after the challenges the team experienced on Friday.

“We’ve made really good progress to bounce back from the damage incurred yesterday after the contact with an Audi,” says Nick Leventis. “The guys did a superb job to get the car repaired and in fantastic shape to enable us to be quickest in FP3. We’ve really enjoyed today; the car reacted to the changes we made and we know we have a car that will be very consistent over the six hours tomorrow.”

Strakka Racing will always be a professional race team but enjoying our racing and sharing the fun with the fans is important too!

Dan Walmsley

“It was a mixed start to the weekend with a pit lane speed infringement and damage but the team responded well to the tough start and that spirit came through to deliver good one lap pace today,” says team principal Dan Walmsley. “Yes, we are still suffering from a hangover from not running in 2014 and we have to build momentum before better results will come. Progress is slower than we hoped but this weekend is a step forward from CoTA and we will keep building on this.”

Feeding on the passion of the local fans, Strakka Racing offered pit lane visitors the chance to sign one of the tyres it will use in the race. “We are expecting rain so made sure the fans got to sign an intermediate tyre that should see action on track,” adds Walmsley. “Strakka Racing will always be a professional race team but enjoying our racing and sharing the fun with the fans is important too!”
