After claiming a remarkable fourth place at Le Mans 24 Hours in June, the REBELLION Racing team is aiming for another strong result at the 6 Hours of Silverstone on return from the FIA World Endurance Championship’s summer break.
After very good results from the beginning of the 2012 FIA WEC season, REBELLION Racing is in a strong position, leading the LMP1 Privateer classification with respectively a 24 and 30 points margin on Honda powered teams JRM and Strakka Racing.
REBELLION Racing will be targeting another first and second place finishing amongst the FIA WEC LMP1 privateers, a similar result from the last 6 Hour race at Spa.
With only two factory Audis and a single entry from Toyota Racing, a podium finish will be a reasonable objective.
The summer has been a busy time for the team as they have been working on improvements to their cars and preparing for further development of their Toyota powered Lolas. The team completed a testing programme at the Motorland Aragon circuit (in Spain) last July with both cars and the complete driver line-ups involved (Andrea Belicchi, Harold Primat, Neel Jani and Nicolas Prost).
Quick, consistent and durable tyres from Michelin will be a valuable addition to the team’s cars pace on the demanding British track. The performance and reliability of the Toyota RV8KLM engine will again be a major asset for the Silverstone race.
Bart Hayden, REBELLION Racing Team Manager : "We head into the next race at Silverstone with confidence and optimism as this race could put us into an even stronger position for the Championship. We are currently at the top of the FIA WEC LMP1 Privateer field, but we have another six hours of extremely tough racing against very strong opposition to get through. We have confidence in the pace of our cars and our determination will be high for the best possible results.
"We had a busy summer with testing and preparation for the remaining rounds of the FIA WEC with five races to come in only a two month period in the U.K, Brazil, Bahrain, Japan and China - the biggest logistic challenge that the team will have faced since its formation!"
