With a lap time of 1'29''871, the Swiss driver powered his Lola-Toyota B12/60 up just behind the hybrid factory cars.

Andrea BELICCHI in the Lola-Toyota #13 secured 7th position on the grid with 1'30''682 as his best laptime.

The two Lola-Toyotas and the three HPD powered cars were covered by a second, which promises a fantastic battle in tomorrow's race.

Neel Jani – Lola-Toyota #12: «This pole position of the FIA WEC Privateer field means a lot for us. As our Lola B12/60s are powered by Toyota engines, Toyota Motorsport crew and TMG engineers are part of our team.

And we know that we are taking part in the “big Japanese power battle” that will take place at Fuji Speedway during tomorrow's race between HPD and Toyota. The pole position is “only” for prestige but everyone wants to have it.

So, we are happy to be in front, especially after being behind during the three free practice sessions. Now, we focus on tomorrow's race.»

Bart Hayden REBELLION Racing Team Manager: « This is our 4th pole of the FIA WEC Privateer field in the season. We are really happy to present it to our friends at Toyota who are here today. We are now looking forward to the race where we hope to capitalise on the grid positions we achieved today.»
