DPPI
The week of the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo got off to a great start when the cars from the FIA WEC were photographed on the grid with some cars celebrating the history of Endurance Racing. The manufacturers present for the Historic Tour of Sao Paulo included Mercedes, MG, Porsche, Corvette, Allard, Jaguar, Lotus and Ferrari. The Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing that was part of the Tour was once owned by Emerson Fittipaldi and has been completely restored by the current owner.
The former Formula One World Champion was on hand to welcome the cars before being photographed on the grid with the magnificent trophy, designed by famous Brazilian artist Yutaka Toyota, that will be presented to the winners of the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo on Saturday afternoon.
After the photoshoot a press conference was held for Brazilian journalists to introduce the event starting on Thursday and how it will be a celebration of Endurance Racing, both past and present in Brazil. The aim is to start with the event in 2012 and build awareness to attract Brazilian racing fans to come and see the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, not just in 2012 but in 2013 and beyond.
