Le Mans 24 Hours LMP2 class winner KCMG will not run a second ORECA 05-Nissan at the fourth round of the WEC at Nurburgring next month.
Motorsport.com has learned that the team will not race its second chassis until the Austin round at the earliest.
The current LMP2 champion and leader of the WEC LMP2 points' standings has been looking at various opportunities to run the car. The second ORECA chassis made a brief appearance at the official Le Mans test day in early June.
Sources close to the team have confirmed to Motorsport.com that not appearing at the Nurburgring is far from an indication that the car will not race at all in 2015, and that a potential appearance at Fuji and Shanghai is also being considered.
One potential solution for KCMG could be to lease or sell the car to the potential all-Dutch team headed by Frits van Eerd and Jan Lammers for 2016.
Discussions between the Dutch contingent and various existing LMP2 teams have been held over the last two weeks, but a final deal is yet to be agreed for the project, which is believed to also involve ex-F1 driver Jos Verstappen.
Van Eerd, who has competed in many forms of racing including Boss GP and the Dakar Rally, is known to be considering an LMP2 programme for 2016.
The boss of the successful Jumbo supermarket chain in Europe was the guest of the Onroak organisation at Le Mans last month, with who he and Lammers are also in talks.
