Nic Jönsson and Maurizio Mediani were the two drivers who traded off qualifying the team's No. 57 Ferrari F438
Saturday, August 31, 2013…..Krohn Racing was back on track at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace on Friday and Saturday for three rounds of practice and the qualifying session for the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, Round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Krohn drivers Nic Jönsson and Maurizio Mediani qualified the Ferrari in sixth position in the GTE-Am class and 25th overall with an average time of 1:35.125. Team owner/driver Tracy W. Krohn participated in all the practice sessions.
TRACY W. KROHN, Krohn Racing Team Owner/Driver, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am:
“Sao Paulo is wonderful. The people here are fantastic! They are very friendly people, good food, and nice atmosphere for the race fans. Traffic is a bit difficult in the city, but other than that, it is really a fun place. I love the track, I love the country, I love the people and I hope we come here a lot.
Yesterday was a disappointing day for the team and for me in particular. The car was very difficult for me yesterday and I think for everybody else too, but especially for me because I’m not in the car as often as them. I’m glad we got the car better today, much better. It’s much more drivable. Once again we don’t have a very good qualifying but I think we’ll have a very good race car. The car was improving the entire time we were qualifying, so that’s a good sign.”
NIC JONSSON, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am:
“We have been fighting the setup all weekend basically. The car was very loose in qualifying for the first three or four laps. It got better, better and better but we just had fuel in the car enough for four laps so I did my laps and the last lap was the quickest. Then Maurizio got in and his last lap was also his quickest. There seems to be a trend here that the longer we run, it seems like it gets more stable and more balanced. That’s a good sign for the race. We qualified sixth, which isn’t very impressive but I think we have a good race car and we just need to take care of our tires and have a good, solid run.”
MAURIZIO MEDIANI, No. 57 Krohn Racing Ferrari F458 GTE-Am: “I think we are not too far from the top of the timesheets. I’m confident with the car. It’s my opinion, and I spoke to David already, that I think we’ll have a very good car for the race. From now until Sunday evening we have to work in this direction.”
DAVID BROWN, Krohn Racing Team Manager/Race Engineer “As ever, we are really looking forward to the race and we think that will be the best part of the weekend for us. We believe we will be in a strong position for a good finish in the race. We expect an enthusiastic, large and loud crowd tomorrow, especially on the fenced area next to the starting grid where they tend to get very excited and it is a real thrill for everybody on the grid.”
This weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Silverstone race will start at 12:00 noon local time in Sao Paulo, Brazil
