AF Corse at the start with four Ferrari 458 Italia GT2
SPA, May 2nd - There will be four AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 lined up for the “6 Hours of Spa” (Belgium), on May 5th, second event of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The champions of the Le Mans Series 2011 and of the last Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, Giancarlo Fisichella and Gianmaria Bruni on Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #51, returned to the Spa circuit after the great victory in 2011. They will race in the GTE Pro category. On the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 #71 of the GTE Pro category, there will be Andrea Bertolini and Olivier Beretta, winners of their category at Sebring, first WEC’s event.
In the GTE AM, Piergiuseppe Perazzini, Marco Cioci and Matt Griffin will be protagonist of the endurance race on the AF Corse Ferrari 458 Italia number 81. The crew is also engaged in the Le Mans Series 2012 and the Belgian race will be its debut in the WEC.
AF Corse look after the technical assistance of the AF-Waltrip Ferrari 458 Italia GT2 of the GTE Am category (The AF Waltrip entry is a joint effort by the AF Corse team and NASCAR’s Michael Waltrip Racing). On the car #61, there will be Robert Kauffman, Rui Aguas and Brian Vickers, drivers with a great experience with the GT and Nascar competitions.
After the “12 Hours of Sebring”, Ferrari is in the first position of the world manufactures championship (LM GTE) and AF Corse is leader of the FIA Endurance Trophy LM GTE Pro Teams. The AF Corse Ferrari number 71 (Bertolini-Beretta) is in the lead of the Michelin Green X Challenge.
