Watkins Glen, NY (May 18, 2000) - After a full day of testing for the Lysol 200 NASCAR Busch Series race, Watkins Glen is shifting gears as the historic track prepares for the season opening Watkins Glen Historic Races Presented by Chemung Canal Trust Company. Chemung Canal Trust and Watkins Glen will be hosting a go-kart challenge this Saturday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the KG Motors Slick Track promoting the grand opening of the Arnot Mall branch of the bank and the upcoming Historic Races, June 2 - 4.

Complimentary vouchers for a free round of racing at the go-kart track are now available for visitors to the new Chemung Canal Trust branch office. A corporate challenge race between bank president, Jan Updegraff, and Watkins Glen president, Bryan Sperber, is sure to be the highlight of Saturday's event.

"Through our involvement with Chemung Canal, I've seen first hand that Jan and the entire Chemung Canal team are leaders in the world of financial services. And, I've been told that Jan is a great go-kart driver, too. On Saturday, everyone will see if he's as good a driver as his reputation suggests," said track president, Bryan Sperber, in between practice sessions at the slick track on Wednesday evening.

The Watkins Glen Historic Races will present one of the largest gatherings of Ferraris and Ferrari enthusiasts in North America. Ferrari will be the featured marque throughout the entire weekend, with cars such as the 1993 Ferrari F1 car driven by Jean Alesi scheduled to participate.

The Ferrari feature coincides with the 20th anniversary of Gilles Villeneuve's win at Watkins Glen in the 1979 U.S. Grand Prix. Villeneuve took the checkered flag at The Glen driving a Scuderia Ferrari 312.

Fans interested in participating in Saturday's event at the KG Motors Slick Track should visit the new branch office for Chemung Canal Trust located at 29 Arnot Road behind the Mall in Horseheads. Chemung Canal will provide vouchers to bank customers for a free race Saturday, May 20, at the slick track located on Chambers Road across from the Arnot Mall.

Tickets for the June 2 - 4 Watkins Glen Historic Races Presented by Chemung Canal Trust Company are now available. For ticket, camping, or additional information, contact the Watkins Glen ticket office at 607-535-2481 or visit the website at www.theglen.com .
