LYN ST. JAMES SET TO MEET AND GREET FANS DURING U.S. VINTAGE GRAND PRIX
Legendary Driver will Take Part in Autograph Sessions, Fan Forums and Downtown Festival
WATKINS GLEN, NY (SEPTEMBER 01, 2009) -- Ly St. James, the featured guest during the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International September 11-13, is scheduled to make several appearances throughout the weekend, including autograph sessions and fan forums. The weekend will serve as a tribute to her and her racing career and as a celebration of the featured marque, Morgan.
All four of St. James' autograph sessions will be held at The Pyramid Souvenir Center in the infield of the track throughout the weekend and will give fans the chance to have their racing collectables and merchandise signed by the legendary driver. She will sign autographs on Saturday, September 12, from 10:00 am -- 11:00 am and again from 2:20 pm -- 3:00 pm and on Sunday, September 13, from 10:00 am -- 11:15 am and again from 3:00 pm -- 4:00 pm.
In addition to the autograph sessions, St. James will make stops at both the Crown Royal Club at The Glen and the Pit Terrace Grandstand during the weekend. The Crown Royal Club at The Glen requires separate admission, while the Fan Forums in the Pit Terrace grandstand are included with any type of admission. Guests joining the Crown Royal Club at The Glen on Saturday, September 12 will be treated to a special Q&A opportunity with the legendary driver from 1:30 pm -- 2:00 pm. While any fan with a weekend admission ticket can participate in Saturday's fan forum in the Pit Terrace Grandstand from 11:30 am -- 12:00 pm. Then on Sunday, September 13 at 11:30 am, St. James will participate in another 30-minute session in the Crown Royal Club at The Glen followed by a second Fan Forum in the Pit Terrace Grandstand from 12:35 pm -- 1:00 pm.
Her first speaking appearance will be downtown Watkins Glen on Friday, September 11 at the Grand Prix Festival during the "Legends Speak" ceremonies held in Lafayette Park at 3:00 pm. Later that day, around 5:30 pm, Lyn will be inducted into the "Walk of Fame" during opening ceremonies and then give the most famous words in motor sports, "drivers start your engines," before the reenactment on the village streets, during the 61st anniversary of racing in Watkins Glen.
Don't miss the Chemung Canal Trust Co. Antique Auto Show on Saturday, where fans can display their antique cars in friendly competition and take a parade lap around the historic track on Saturday afternoon. Tickets for the auto show are $70 and include one three-day general admission ticket, vehicle entry into the show, a parade lap, and a special gift. Participating cars must be at least 25 years old and the show is limited to the first 400 entries.
New in 2009: The State Line Vintage Auto Auction at The Glen will also be held on Saturday, September 12th during the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix weekend. The auction starts at 1:00 PM in the HGP Paddock area, just north of The Pyramid. The auto auction at The Glen is limited to only 160 vehicles, so consignors are encouraged to register their cars as soon as possible. The weekend will also include the Grand Prix Festival presented by the Chemung Canal Trust Co. in the village of Watkins Glen on Friday, September 11th. Weekend tickets for all of the activities at the track are still available and adult tickets are only $45. Kids ages 12 and under are FREE. Sunday admission is only $30 for adults. All tickets provide access into the grandstands, garage and paddock areas. Tickets also include participation in autograph sessions, fan forums and Q&A sessions with Lyn St. James.
