Jay Leno's Race Team Entered in Heroes of Speed Event at Miller Motorsports Park
TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (September 10, 2008) -- Most people know "The Tonight Show" host Jay Leno as one of America's leading automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts, but few people know that he actually sponsors his own racing team.
The Big Dog Garage Racing Team, named for the facility where Leno stores and maintains his world-class fleet of historic cars and bikes, will be entered in this weekend's Heroes of Speed historic racing event at Miller Motorsports Park. Leno, unfortunately, will not be able to attend due to business commitments. The team has entered two cars, a 1976 Chevron B-34 Formula Atlantic, to be driven by Leno's chief mechanic, Bernard Juchli, and a 1982 Ralt RT5 Super Vee, to be driven by Paul Lisec.
The third annual Heroes of Speed event attracts historic and vintage racing machines from all across America, providing a rolling history lesson in the evolution of automobile racing from the early 1960s through the 1980s.
The three-day event starts on Friday, September 12, with practice sessions for all classes. Qualifying races will take place on Saturday and feature races will take place on Sunday. As has become a tradition with the Heroes of Speed, a race car parade will take place on Friday afternoon, leaving Miller Motorsports Park at 6:00 pm and heading to Veterans Park in downtown Tooele for a car show and meet-and-greet with fans.
Tickets for the Heroes of Speed are priced at only $10 per day. Kids 12 and under are admitted free of charge.
