Zions Bank Heroes of Speed to Feature Free Admission
TOOELE VALLEY, UTAH (July 16, 2007) -- Thanks to unprecedented support from event sponsor Zions Bank, all spectators will enjoy free admission to Miller Motorsports Park for the upcoming Zions Bank Heroes of Speed presented by The Grand and Little America Hotels, featuring Historic Sportscar Racing, Ltd., over the weekend of August 3-5.
The event will feature vintage and historic racing cars ranging from the early 1960s through the mid-1990s, including production-based sports cars, open-wheeled formula cars, open-cockpit sports racers, Formula 1 and Indy cars, IMSA GTP cars, IMSA GT and Trans-Am cars, plus some retired NASCAR stock cars.
"Thanks to the incredible generosity of Zions Bank, we are going to be able to invite all the fans to attend the Zions Bank Heroes of Speed presented by The Grand and Little America Hotels for free," said Miller Motorsports Park General Manager/CEO Alan Wilson. "This is a perfect opportunity for fans to come out and see what a special facility we have and experience what is, in essence, a rolling museum illustrating the history of motorsport."
"We very much enjoy our relationship with Miller Motorsports Park," said Zions Bank Executive Vice President Rob Brough, "and we are pleased to be able to offer free admission to the fans for the Zions Bank Heroes of Speed presented by The Grand and Little America Hotels. Larry Miller has built an incredible, world-class racing plant and it is our pleasure to be able to help fans discover this fantastic facility and the beautiful, historic cars that will be competing."
The event will feature three days of on-track action on Miller Motorsports Park's 3.06-mile Outer Course, and a race car parade on Friday, August 3. The Heroes of Speed Tooele Tour will take the racing cars on public roads, accompanied by a police escort, from the track to Grantsville and on to Tooele, where there will be a car show at Veterans Park. Fans will be welcome to view the race cars up close and meet the drivers.
Another special feature for fans will be the Golden Oldies Parade on Sunday, August 5. Spectators who bring cars to the track that are 1970 or older to the track's South Gate will be directed to a special parking corral on the Midway until lunch time on Sunday, when they will enter the track at Tooele Turn for a one-lap parade of the track. Fun and unusual cars are particularly welcome. Car clubs throughout the State of Utah are invited to "Rally to the Track," where they will park in groups in the Midway area. Fun activities will take place for the car owners, and special awards will be presented, including awards such as "Most Unusual Car," "Oldest Car," "Oldest Combined Age of Car and Driver" and "Best Car Club Group."
