Race 6 - Coys of Kensington Daytona Cup for 1970s Group 4 Racing Cars
14 Laps

The penultimate race of day two of Rockingham's opening weekend produced a "droolsome" grid of 25 impressive 1970s muscle cars.

The field got off to a roaring start, but pole man Jonathan Baker in the Ford F3L soon saw the back of the competition, dropping down to seventh place by the end of the first lap. He fought back strongly with a powerful display of determined driving to work his way back up to first place by the end of lap 5, fighting off the challenge of an eight-car Lola T70 benefit to retain the lead and take the chequered flag.

Peter Schleifer's Lola T70 held second place from lap 8 onwards with Armand Bailly and Craig Jones holding third and fourth places respectively. From second on the grid, Colin Parry Williams' Lola T70 spun on the second lap but he clawed his way back to eleventh place by lap 7, eventually finishing in fifth place.

Car-breaking specialist Sandy Watson in the Chevron B8 BMW tangled with David Knox having his first outing in a similar Chevron B8. Knox recovered first, only to lose it once more and handing the Class B win back to Watson.

The last few laps saw a good dice between Colin Blower in the ex-Denny Hulme Lola T70 Spyder and Nick Amey in the T70 GT, with the open car just crossing the line ahead in seventh place.

Jonathan Baker claimed the fastest lap with a time of 1:31.953 - 87.93mph.
