Watkins Glen, NY (September 5, 2002) -- As if nearly 400 vintage race cars and Juan Fangio II weren't enough, Watkins Glen International is adding more to this weekend's Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix. On Saturday, road racing great Ron Fellows will be on hand for much of the day and will sign autographs at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Pyramid Souvenir Center. In addition, the new Corvette Z06 will be on display the entire weekend at the Pyramid.

The Corvette Z06 is a production vehicle that's ready for the racetrack. It is based on the former hardtop model and is aimed directly at diehard performance enthusiasts at the upper end of the high-performance market. Chevrolet touts it as the quickest, best handling production Corvette ever, setting new standards.

Fellows has a strong history at Watkins Glen and road racing in general. He is a two-time winner of the 24 Hours of LeMans in the GTS class, scoring victories in 2001 and 2002. Also in 2001, he drove his Corvette to an overall Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona victory with co-drivers Johnny O'Connell, Chris Kneifel and Franck Freon. At Watkins Glen, Fellows has five NASCAR victories that include two in the Craftsman Truck Series and three in Busch Series competition. His best Winston Cup finish came in 1999 when he finished second.

The Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix roars back to life on its traditional September weekend with two spectacular features -- the IMSA GTP and Mini Cooper. Watch as the original IMSA GTP cars, including the famous Nissans, Toyotas, Jaguars, and Porsches, gather at The Glen to defend their title as the fastest cars to ever race on the 3.4-mile road course. Then join the celebration as The Glen welcomes a reunion of the legendary Mini Cooper, Britain's favorite fun car. Giving the command for Sunday's New York Governor's Cup race is Juan Manuel Fangio II, a three-time Camel Continental Champion at The Glen.

Tickets for the Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix, September 6-8, are still available.
