Watkins Glen, NY (September 5, 2000) - Emerson Fittipaldi will be reunited with his 1971 Lotus 69 Formula 2 car at this weekend's Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen. In addition to over 39 Formula One cars, several other significant cars will be on display and racing at the 3.377-mile historic road course this weekend.

Emerson Fittipaldi and Jack Brabham are scheduled to be a part of the traditional Zippo Vintage event at The Glen, this year featuring a Formula One reunion to celebrate the return of Formula One to the United States at Indianapolis. Fittipaldi and Brabham will be serving as co-Grand Marshals and Fittipaldi will be driving his Lotus 69 Formula 2 car.

The Formula 2 Lotus has been completely restored and sports the original sponsor's paint scheme for Moonraker Power Yachts, Lotus' early venture into water craft. The car won at least nine races with Fittipaldi driving and competed in the famed Temporada F2 Winter Series in South Africa. Fittipaldi would have won a championship with the car, but because of his active status as a Formula One competitor he was ineligible to claim the championship.

The restored Lotus is now owned and operated by Jim Bennet from Littleton, Colorado, and is entered in the event specifically for Emerson Fittipaldi to drive. Although he's seen pictures of the restored car, he hasn't seen the car in person in nearly thirty years and will be re-acquainted with it for the first time this weekend.

Thirty-nine Formula One cars and five display-only Formula One cars are scheduled to attend the September weekend at Watkins Glen. Additional cars and photos will be available throughout the weekend on The Glen's official website www.theglen.com .
