Chemung Canal Trust Historic Races lands official BMW dealer; WGI and Gault Auto Center form partnership
Watkins Glen, NY (March 27, 2002) - Gault Auto Center of Binghamton, NY, has been named the official BMW dealer for the Chemung Canal Trust Historic Races at Watkins Glen International June 7-9, track president Craig Rust announced today. In addition, Gault Auto Center will also hold the title as the official Binghamton Area Auto Dealer for the 2002 racing season at The Glen.
"We are pleased to welcome Gault Auto Centers, another locally-based company, as a new marketing partner with The Glen," Rust said. "With the vital role pace cars play in auto racing, we couldn't be happier to have these cars provided by such a well-respected dealership like Gault. With the BMW marque already being featured during our Chemung Canal Trust Historic weekend, it's only natural to have a BMW pace the field."
As the official BMW dealer of June's historic events, two BMW sedans provided by Gault will lead the field around the 3.377-mile course.
"This is an exciting opportunity for Gault Auto Sport BMW," explained BMW Sales Manager Leo Portela. "With BMW North America and the Genesee Valley BMW CCA participation in the Chemung Canal Trust Historic Races in June, it serves as the perfect opportunity to get our employees, race team and customers together in a relaxed, enjoyable setting, with BMW racing in the backdrop."
As the official Binghamton Area Auto Dealer, Gault Chevrolet will be a provider of The Glen's pace cars during the 2002 racing season, issuing two Chevrolet Impala LS Sport Sedans to pace the field around the historic road course.
"The staff and management from Gault Chevrolet in Endicott, NY, consider it an honor to align ourselves as an official partner with Watkins Glen," said Mark Sorochinsky, Chevrolet sales manager for Gault. "Our intention is to raise the level of awareness of the great Chevrolet heritage and commitment to the sport of auto racing in a tradition that only a historic course like Watkins Glen can provide."
