Drivers competing in this weekend's Armor All Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercar event in Australia have gathered for a pre-race memorial service for the late Dan Wheldon.
Wheldon, who was killed in the final race of the IndyCar Series last weekend in Las Vegas, had been scheduled to share the #1 Toll Holden Racing Team Commodore with defending V8 Supercar Champion James Courtney.
All 56 drivers, including those that were in the race last Sunday in the USA, Ryan Briscoe (Australia), Helio Castroneves (Brazil) and Alex Tagliani (Canada), gathered to remember the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Wheldon.
Wheldon's team-mate Tagliani addressed the gathering and thanked the V8 Supercar fraternity for their support over the past week.
V8 Supercars have also named the trophy for the top international driver in the Armor All Gold Coast 600 after the popular English driver.
