D'ALBERTO'S BIGGEST POINTS HAUL OF THE YEAR AT WINTON

Tony D'Alberto had his best overall result of the year at Victoria's Winton Raceway for Round 8 of the V8 Supercar Championship Series this weekend, finishing Race 3 in 14th place and the round in 17th place.

Finishing the weekend off with the strongest form of the weekend Tony had his best result in Race 3.

"It is so good to finish a meeting strongly," he said.

The team overcame handling problems early in the weekend to finish strongly and challenging for position in both races today.

Fast pit stops assisted Tony in his bid to move up the field and he was able to gain places in that process which helped him get on with the job.

"We overcame problems this weekend and built up to finish the meeting on a high which is something we have not done well this year."

Going into this round D'Alberto had hopes of a strong performance at his home circuit but was well aware that the competition has been extremely tight this year.

Tony qualified 26th on Saturday and was able to improve his standing in each of the three races.

The first race presented similar issues as qualifying where Tony struggled with front end grip as the crew worked on changes to improve the car.

To their credit the setup on Sunday gave Tony a great opportunity to perform strongly and he was able to finish 16th in Race 2.

Tony was on the charge and moved from 16th place in Race 3 to finish 14th, his best Race 3 result for the year, not far behind Steven Johnson.

"It was good to be getting somewhere in the races," Tony said.

"When you can get someone in your sights and catch and pass them it is a great motivator.

"I just want to thank the guys for the setup and doing fast pit stops, it made all the difference to my performance."

With a six week break before the endurance races at Phillip Island and Bathurst the team will continue to work on car speed leading into the business end of the year.
